How we check facts
Sources we use
- Official guidance: NHS England, NHS Supply Chain, NHS Scotland (DL(2018)4), NHS trust policies, the CDC, the US EPA and the UK Health and Safety Executive.
- Research: peer-reviewed studies, described with their size, design and limits.
- Brand pages for specs and size charts. When a brand page won't load, we may use a retailer or reseller page and label it as such ("retailer listing", "reseller help page").
- Established news outlets and trade press for what happened and when.
Prices are shown with the currency, the retailer, whether tax was included and the date we saw them. They are not recommendations.
Labels on brand facts
Each fact on a brand page says where it came from. "Seller wording" or "reseller wording" means the words are a seller's own description, such as "runs true to size" or "four-way stretch". We report it; we don't endorse it. A care label on the garment in your hands outranks any listing.
What we won't do
- Imply that we are, or speak for, the NHS, a hospital or a brand.
- Rate, rank or recommend brands, or publish "best scrubs" lists.
- Say or imply that any fabric protects wearers or patients from infection.
- Recommend compression levels or give medical advice. For symptoms, see a doctor.
- Publish invented reviews, wear tests or experts.
Spelling
We use US spelling, but keep NHS colour names and UK terms (trust, band) exactly as published.
Corrections
If something is wrong or out of date, tell us. We fix confirmed errors and note material corrections at the end of the page.
